SURGICAL - MIDFACE LIFTING
 For individuals with sagging cheeks, but not jowls or banding of the neck, a mid-face lift may be the best solution. If your mid-face (the soft tissue pad of the cheek) has dropped, producing deep nasolabial grooves (between the nose and mouth) and sunken cheeks, Dr. Lewen may perform an Endoscopic Mid-face Lift or Vertical Mid-face Lift, through a small incision in the corner of the eyelids. The new "Vertical Facelift" or Mid-Face Lift offers an effective alternative in appropriate cases to the traditional Facelift.
Whether the mid-face lift is accomplished through endoscopic or traditional surgery, the process involves less overall surgery than a full-face lift, as less tissue is affected in the procedure. Generally, this translates into a quicker recovery time and a shorter wait for the final results.
Most patients undergoing a mid-face lift require only a week off from work or other regular activities. There is usually only mild to moderate bruising associated with a mid-face lift, but some swelling may occur, especially initially after the procedure. Using ice for the first 24-48 hours after a mid-face lift can help control swelling. Some common, but short-lived, side effects of a mid-face lift include numbness under the eyes and muscle weakness when moving the middle portion of the face.
