SURGICAL - BLEPHAROPLASTY

blepharoplastyBlepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, improves the appearance of the upper eyelids and/or the lower eyelids to give a more rejuvenated appearance to the area surrounding your eyes. This ultimately adds a more youthful and energetic appearance to your face.

At times, an upper blepharoplasty is needed for functional reasons, such as when an advanced amount of upper eyelid skin protrudes over the eyelashes causing an obstruction of peripheral vision. In this circumstance, an upper blepharoplasty can be performed to improve peripheral vision and to decrease the heaviness of the eyelids. Depending on your insurance coverage, this may be covered by your provider.

Lower blepharoplasty, most often performed for cosmetic reasons, will dramatically improve puffy lower eyelid "bags" and reduce the wrinkling of skin.

Healing times vary based on many factors, however, the majority of your healing will be within the first few weeks. In some cases, it may take up to 6 months to a year for incision lines to fully refine.

While eyelid surgery can be expected to correct certain conditions more permanently, your body will continue to age naturally. Life-long sun protection and good skin care are important to help maintain your results.

"Have you ever felt that you've been given a new lease on life? That's exactly how I feel since I've had LASIK. Instead of green fuzz around a tree trunk, I can now actually see the outline of the leaves. I have the chance again to enjoy so many of the little things in our everyday life that we take so much for granted. Thank you so much, Dr. Woolfson, for renewing my eyesight and giving me the chance to see clearly again."
