BOTOX® injections are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments today. It is used to improve the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, crow’s feet and other wrinkles caused by aging.  This procedure can be performed over a lunch break and requires no anesthesia or recovery.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is the trade name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified protein. BOTOX® was first discovered to have cosmetic benefits by an ophthalmologist in the 1980s, and has been used safely by ophthalmologists for over 15 years.

It has been used for wrinkle therapy in millions of people since the early 1990’s with no serious side effects being reported. In fact, people with migraine or chronic headache pain often find relief of their symptoms after BOTOX® therapy.

How does BOTOX® work?

By administering extremely small doses of BOTOX®, the affected muscle relaxes for up to 4-6 months. After the treatment, the overlying skin becomes smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Some of the most common areas treated include crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles.

"I had clear-corneal cataract surgery with Dr. Shatz and could not stop praising him. I have always prided my self on a healthy lifestyle that boasted great vision and an excellent workout routine. I am a surviving cancer patient and Dr. Shatz gave me back my vision before cancer entered my life 10 years ago. I will always be indebted to Dr. Shatz and his caring staff. THANK YOU!"
